Overview

Putting a DFC Diesel Remanufactured Long Block Crate Engine in your 2001-2004 GM 6.6L Duramax LB7 is a cost-effective alternative to buying a whole new truck! Each remanufactured engine is built to give you a dependable and durable replacement for your tuck. During the remanufacturing process, DFC makes crucial improvements to help your engine last, even in applications with increased horsepower. For example, each engine features an EDM oil pump shaft with a hardened dowel installed to prevent slipping and the risk of an oil pressure loss. DFC uses Rottler machining equipment to ensure that each engine is built to tolerances that are more precise than OEM specifications for a more efficient and longer lasting engine.

Engine Remanufacturing

The DFC short block is machined with near identical weight piston and connecting rod assemblies to help you get a smoother running engine that makes less noise and is more balanced.  DFC short blocks include reinforced internals with new pistons, rings, doweled oil pump, bearings, and rods. 

Cylinder Head

Unlike some others in the industry that re-use wearing items like valves guides, DFC replaces each one with a new cast guide in every cylinder head. Instead of just re-grinding and reusing valves like other companies, DFC installs all new valves from high quality sources like MAHLE or SBI.

New Engine Checklist (Replacement Items - Sold Separately)

  • Oil Cooler - highly recommended and mandatory if your past engine had a bearing failure.
  • Injectors - highly recommended especially on higher model engines or engines with contaminated fuel.
  • Turbocharger - recommended if mileage over 125K, mandatory if shaft play, or if engine was dusted.
  • Water Pump - highly recommended if engine has over 125K. 
  • Evans Waterless Coolant - recommended upgrade to prevent corrosion and boilover.

The specific brand of each component may change due to part availability at the time of each build. Parts are chosen at the discretion of DFC and cannot be specially requested. DFC uses only the best components sourced from multiple brands during the remanufacturing process and backs their engines with an industry-leading 5-year 100,000 mile warranty.
