From the factory your Duramax uses a dowel pin on the crankshaft to hold the balancer in place. In both stock and performance applications these dowel pins are easily sheared causing the balancer to spin on the snout of the crankshaft, when the balancer spins it can throw off the balance of the engine and create harsh vibrations. The XDP crankshaft pin kit includes a specially made jig so you can drill the crankshaft without requiring an engine tear-down or a machine shop. The drill bit allows for about 5 procedures to be done before requiring a replacement. Each kit includes a jig, jib holding bolt, drill bit, pin and install instructions.
